Moving you Forward
When and why you might need Trauma Therapy
Two people can go through the same traumatic experience (like an accident, rape, violent assault or an armed robbery/hijacking) — and have completely different reactions. One might seem to bounce back quickly, while the other struggles deeply for a long time. That doesn’t mean one is “stronger” than the other. It simply means that trauma is very personal. It affects you in a very unique way.
Some of these experiences change you. They shake your sense of safety, trust, or identity. Even long after they’re over, you might still feel the effects — in your body, your thoughts, your sleep, or your relationships. You might feel stuck in the past, anxious in the present, or worried about the future — even if you don’t always understand why.
That’s what trauma does. It leaves behind emotional wounds that don’t always heal on their own.
And it turns out that what matters most isn’t what happened — it’s how you experienced it, and the meaning your mind and body gave it.
If you’re having a hard time moving past something that happened — whether it was last week or years ago — you’re not broken. You’re not weak. Your nervous system may still be stuck in survival mode, and that’s where trauma therapy can help.
If you’ve been through something deeply upsetting, frightening, or overwhelming — whether recently or long ago — online trauma therapy offers a safe and gentle way to start healing.
Understanding trauma and how it affects you
Trauma is all about the emotional and psychological impact a traumatic event has on you as a person:
- It can violate your core beliefs about safety, trust, or self-worth
- It can feel too painful or overwhelming to process alone
- You can lose sight of the bigger picture and get stuck in the moment
- Present-day triggers bring the memory back as if it’s happening again
It often, this includes thoughts like:
- “I’m not safe.”
- “It was my fault.”
- “I’ll never feel okay again.”
- “No one will understand.”
And these thoughts can make the experience feel bigger, scarier, and more permanent than it really is. They keep you stuck in a loop, where your past pain continues to impact your present life.
In online trauma therapy, we work together to gently explore those thoughts and emotions. In the process I will help you to gently explore the meaning you’ve given to the experience — and create space for a new way of perceiving it – one where you feel more empowered, less afraid, and more in control of your life again… one that bBrings healing, relief, and hope.
What Trauma Therapy looks like
Healing from trauma isn’t just about understanding the past — it’s also about building a new, more empowered future. My role as your therapist is to support you, guide you, and walk beside you as you do this important work.
In our sessions, I aim to:
- Create a safe, accepting space where you can be your real self
- Listen with compassion, curiosity, and no judgment
- Help you understand your experiences and how they’ve shaped you
- Support you as you explore new ways of thinking and feeling
Together, we work:
- To better understand how the trauma affected you emotionally, mentally, and physically
- To reduce overwhelming emotions linked to the memory
- To find healthier, more helpful ways of perceiving the experience
- To rewrite painful stories and become free from their impact
- To help you feel calm and in control again
- Co-create a new and more hopeful path — one that fits your values and vision
- Empower you to move forward with confidence
- We don’t erase the past — but we change the way it lives in your body and mind, so it doesn’t control your present anymore.
TRE: Trauma Release through the body
In my online practice, I use different tools and techniques to help you reprocess your trauma in a safe, effective way. Amongst others: Narrative Therapy and EMDR.
One powerful method I also use is called TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises). This technique was developed by Dr. David Berceli and is based on how our nervous systems naturally respond to stress.
You’ve probably seen animals shake after a scary event. That shaking — called tremoring — is the body’s built-in way of releasing stress. Humans can do this too, but we often hold it in because we’re taught to hide our emotions or “stay strong.”
TRE gently activates that natural tremor response in a controlled, safe setting — helping you release tension and trauma stored in your body. It’s a physical, organic way to support emotional healing — and it can work beautifully alongside traditional therapy methods.
